Brigadier General Lester D. Eisner
DEPUTY ADJUTANT GENERAL OF SOUTH CAROLINA
Brig. Gen. Lester D. Eisner graduated from Mercer University as a distinguished
military graduate in 1976 with a regular Army commission in Infantry. After attending
the Infantry Officer Basic Course he was assigned as Infantry Platoon Leader, 1st
Battalion, 506th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in January 1977.
In February 1979, Eisner graduated from the Initial Entry Rotary Wing Course at
Fort Rucker, Alabama, as the honor Aeroscout graduate and was then assigned to the
229th Attack Helicopter Battalion, 101st Airborne Division serving as a Scout Section
Leader, Platoon Leader, and Staff Officer. During his assignment, he also served
with the Original Night Stalkers Special Operations Aviation Task Force from late
1979 until 1981.
After attending the Infantry Officer Advanced Course at Fort Benning, Georgia, he
was assigned to the 1st Army, Fort Meade, Maryland, in October 1982 (later changed
to the 2nd Army, Fort McPherson, Georgia) with a duty station of Troop D, 1-101st
Cavalry, Eastover, South Carolina, as Operations Officer.
Eisner resigned from the Active Army in September 1985 to join the South Carolina
Army National Guard as Operations Officer in Troop D, 1-101st Cavalry. Upon reorganization
in March 1987, he became a member of 1st Battalion, 151st Aviation (AAH), Eastover,
South Carolina, serving as the S-4, the S-2, the S-3, the Executive Officer, and
as the Battalion Commander from October 1991 until December 1994.
He served as the S-3, 51st Aviation Group, Eastover, South Carolina, until September
1995 and then became the Deputy Director, Aviation and Safety, Headquarters (-)
State Area Command, Columbia, South Carolina. In September 1999, he became the Commander,
51st Aviation Group. He relinquished command in March 2004 and became the South
Carolina Army National Guard Director of Aviation and Safety.
In February 2006, he became the Assistant Adjutant General, Deputy Joint Force Land
Component Commander (Army). Promoted in September 2006, Eisner currently serves as the Deputy Adjutant General for the Joint Force Headquarters, South Carolina
National Guard. BG Eisner is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College.
